My Chandelier Shawl and A New Yarn

My Chandelier Shawl and A New Yarn

I bought one skein of a new yarn my supplier was offering in my last order to test it out. It is a single ply fingering weight yarn with a tight twist that is comprised of 100% superwash merino. It comes in 100 g skeins with approximately 365 m/400 yds. I dyed it up awhile ago in a combinations of different reds. It took the dye amazing well. I knit the Chandelier Shawl from the Shaping Shawls book by Anna Dalvi (This is a great book!) with this skein and I had 13 g of this yarn leftover at the end. This is a cresent shaped shawl and my dimensions measured after blocking are a wingspan of 48 inches and the depth at the center spine is 18 inches. I could have blocked this shawl a little more aggressively but I was limited by the space where I was blocking it. I loved knitting with this yarn as it was soft and the yarn flowed through my fingers easily. The tight twist gives this yarn great stitch detail. The finished shawl has a lovely drape to it as shown in the picture below were I am wearing the shawl with the silver shawl pin made by Francine of Fancy That. Francine kindly gave me this shawl pin after the open house at my house. I am seriously considering of adding this yarn to my lineup of fingering weight yarns that I carry. My retail price for this yarn would be $24 Cdn. What do you think? Do you think that this yarn sounds like a yarn that you would be interested...

Lavender Fields Shawl Kit

Lavender Fields Shawl Kit

My Mom bought this Lavender Fields Shawl Kit (picture on the right) from me in early June. The kit contained the Lavender Fields Shawl pattern by Natalie Servant, 1 skein of my BFL/Silk Select Lace in the Persian Violets colourway and 1 grey fresh-water pearl shawl pin made by Fancy That – Creations by Francine. She finished it and had it blocked in time for me to use as a sample at the Ottawa Knitting Guild’s vendors night on October 15th (thank you, Mom). To get a shawl of this size, she knit 5 repeats of Chart B (main chart) before moving on to Chart C (the edging chart). I think that it turned out beautiful especially since she is fairly new to lace...
