2 projects from 1 skein
I recently finished and blocked my Helix Scarf by Stephanie Gaustad from the Jane Austen Knits Magazine (the cover project). It is a cute scarf and I love the twirled ruffled look. The helix effect comes from knitting a small short-row wedge on one side of the scarf followed by another short-row edge on the other side of the scarf with one knit row between each wedge.
I knit this scarf with the 40g (about 315 m) of Fleece Artist’s Saldanha Two in Ruby Red colourway that was leftover from a previous project. This yarn is a slightly heavier
laceweight with a nice tight twist. I really enjoyed knitting with this yarn.
My first project using this skein was a test knit of the Poppy Field Shawl for Natalie (Natalie Servant Designs) in a lace weight. This was a very enjoyable knit and I am very happy with my shawl. I have two shawl kits for this pattern in my e-store at the moment in the kits section.
I also wanted to mention that my friend Natalie is hosting a give away contest on her blog and in her group in ravelry to celebrate the release of her new Clover shawl pattern and St. Patrick’s Day. The prizes are one skein of the yarn she used to knit her sample up in and 1 set of stitch markers from Francine. The details of the contest are here. Check it out and good luck to you.
