BFL DK

I recently dyed and added seven skeins of BFL DK (100% superwash Blue-Faced Leicester wool) to my online store. There are 2 skeins of Scarlet Dreams (top row), 2 skeins of Irish Spring (middle row) and 3 skeins of Velvet Underground (bottom row). Thanks to my friends Sarah and Mara for coming up with the colourway name Velvet Underground.

I also split two skeins in half and dyed each half a contrasting colourway for use in a small two colour fair isle project. One set contains Soot & Rust and the other is Shamrock & In the Shadows.

I dyed up a set of Soot & Rust for myself before Christmas to knit up a pair of Dragon Paws mittens for a friend’s husband. I had been knitting a pair of Dragon Paws mittens for a different friend’s birthday when I visited them in June and he had commented on how cool he thought the mittens were. I’m told by my friend that he loves the mittens and that he has wore them constantly since he received them. This pattern is for women’s mittens and calls for fingering weight yarn so in order to upsize the mittens to fit a man, I simply changed the yarn to a DK weight and my needle sizes to a 3.0 mm and 3.5 mm.

On a completely different note, I have just created a Yvieknits Yarns Ravelry group. I hope that you will check it out.
