Lakefield, Ontario

I went on a mini-vacation with my Mom to Lakefield, Ontario this week. Across the street and down a little from the inn we stayed at was the Happenstance Books & Yarn store. I took this picture of the storefront from the balancy in our room. It had a small but decent selection of yarn and I bought this skein of Misty Alpaca Chunky there.

About a block away from the inn was this great little restaurant called Nuttshell Next Door with a good sized patio. The restaurant was hosting a WWKIP day there on June 16 so the patio and the garden in front of the patio was decorated with knitted items including this knitted strawberry in a pot of flowers. We had breakfast there every day and spent a happy few hours on the patio with our knitting and coffee one afternoon.

One evening while taking a walk along the river shown above on our way to get some ice cream, we came across this turtle enjoying the evening sun. Once it noticed that people were watching it, it walked over to the side of the river and jumped/fell in.

On our way home on Friday, we make a little detour to visit this cute yarn store called Needles in the Hay in Peterborough. The lady at the store kindly allowed me to take a few pictures for my blog. The store had a great seating area that included a table and chairs and a window seat. The store had a nice selection of yarn on its yarn wall.

These three skeins came home
with us: the bottom skein is Zauberball, middle skein is Malabrigo Sock, and the top skein is Tanis Fiber Arts Pink Label Lace weight.

It was an enjoyable few days away that did both of us some good.
