My weekend away

My weekend away

I went away last weekend to Prince Edward County with one of my best friends. This weekend was our very belated birthday celebration as our birthdays are only 8 days apart. My friend was very vague about where we were going but as she was organizing the trip I didn’t think much about it. It turned out that she wanted to surprise me with the fact that she and her husband had bought a cottage in Sandbanks Summer Village in May. The cottage is great and we had a fanatastic time.

The lake is only a few minutes walk away and the private lakefront area for the community is a very pretty place with lots of seats and picnic tables available. There is even indoor washrooms, change rooms and there will be a snack bar next year. We walked around that area on both days.

We spent the weekend eating at some very good restaurants, checking out cute stores in the nearby villages/towns, visiting local wineries and one cheese shop, going for long walks, playing crib and sitting out at night in the chairs in front of the cottage looking at the stars and drinking a very nice strawberry wine.

Sunday morning after a breakfast of waffles with raspberries at the cottage, we went to the day beach at Sandbanks for a long walk barefoot with our jeans rolled up. The weather was perfect (not too hot) and the water was warm so we walked in the surf mostly. I took this picture of my completed Strand of Pearls near the walkway to the parking lot at the end of our walk. It is a slightly shorter version (only 1 repeat of Chart E) knit with one skein of my Merino Sport yarn in the Antique Roses colourway.

All in all, it was a perfect girls weekend.
