Shawl Challenge at my knitting guild

The challenge this year at the Ottawa Knitting Guild was for shawls. There were five categories: shawlette from a pattern, shawl from a pattern, shawlette adapted from a pattern, shawl adapted from a pattern and design your own shawl. I entered a shawlette and a shawl into the challenge and I was surprised and pleased to win second prize in the shawlette from a pattern category (red shawlette pictured below).
For the shawl I made Madli’s Shawl from Knitted Lace of Estonia by Nancy Bush using 1 skein of my Angel Select Lace in the Moss colourway. The only change I made from the pattern was to knit 33 repeats instead of 31 repeats of the center pattern.
I only recently took pictures of this wrap in a friend’s garden while she modeled it for me and I promised to keep her out of the pictures as much as possible.
For the shawlette I made the Chandelier Shawl from Shaping Shawls by Anna Dalvi using 1 skein of my Merino Single Ply Fingering in the Red Roses colourway. I knit the pattern with no changes.
There were 40 entries into the shawl challenge and there is a photo album on the Ottawa Knitting Guild’s facebook page of each shawlette/shawl with the pattern and yarn used listed. I recommend looking at the photo album as there were a lot of beautifuls shawls entered into this challenge.
