My 2015 trunk show at The Loop

new lace yarns on standMy annual trunk show at The Loop in Halifax, Nova Scotia was held on Saturday, May 23, 2015. We were a little unlucky with the weather as it was a cool day and there was a wicked rain/hail storm late afternoon. It was very busy at the store between noon and 3 pm and then quiet for the rest of the day. The first customer of the day brought in this lovely shawl that she knit using my Angel Select Lace in the Caribbean Waters colourway.shawl - customer

We set up three places to display my various yarns: 3 baskets on the center stand in the store, on my stand and in 2 baskets at the end of the table. We draped the table with most of the knitted samples, the shawl kits and some shawl pins and stitch markers from Fancy That that I had brought me. Thank you to Natalie, Lisa, Barb and her girls for lending me items knit out of my yarn for the show. We had a very good selection to show people this year.

BFL/Silky Select Lace

BFL/Silky Select Lace

I launched 2 new yarns at the trunk show this year and I was very happy with the response these 2 yarns received. The first new yarn is the BFL/Silky Select Lace which is a blend of 55% superwash BFL (Blue-Faced Leicester wool) and 45% silk and comes in 800 m/ 100g skeins. This yarn has a higher silk content than the yarn it is replacing and the extra silk provides more sheen to the yarn and it is a smoother yarn. The 3 pictured colourways are claret, soot and marmalade.

The second new yarn is the Silk/Linen Select Lace which contains 65% silk and 35% linen and comes in 691 m/ 115 g skeins. This yarn has a slightly tweedy look to it as the linen does not take the dye as well as the silk does. The three pictured colourways pictured are cosmopolitan, marmalade and cedar.

Mimi, the owner of The Loop, bought a skein of this new yarn in the cosmopolitan colourway from me in the previous order so that she could start knitting a sample. She knit like crazy all week and managed to have this beautiful Blooming Stitch Shawl completed just in time for the trunk show.

Thank you to everyone who attended the trunk show. It was a fun day. If you were not able attend, Mimi bought most of the yarn that I brought with me, so stop by The Loop soon for the best selection.
