Handmade Gifts

This year I’ve managed to finish my planned knitted gifts for my best friend and her family earlier than usual and I plan to mail these gifts off to Halifax on Monday. I don’t always manage to have them completed before Christmas.

I knit socks for my best friend and her two daughters using yarn from my stash. I’ve been trying out Fish Lips Kiss Heel lately so I substituted this heel into each sock pattern. I like how it fits but I’m not sure yet how well it will wear in comparison with the slip stitch heel flap.

For the first pair of socks I knit, I used the Vanilla Latte Socks pattern using Fresh From the Cauldron SW Stripe sock yarn in the Danny & Sandy colourway.

For the second pair of socks I knit, I used my basic vanilla socks pattern and a skein of Biscotte Yarns Bis-Sock yarn in the Clown Fish colourway that I bought at the Twist Fibre Festival last summer.Margaret's socks

For the pair of socks that I knit for my best friend, I used Cookie A’s BFF Socks pattern and using a skein of Blue Moon Fiber Arts Socks That Rock in one of the Rare Gems colourways that I bought at Rhinebeck several years ago. barb's socks

Since over the last couple years I have knit cowls for everyone else in the family, I thought this year that I would knit one for her husband. I chose the Woodstacking pattern which is the one I used to knit a cowl for my brother a few years ago and I used 1 skein of my Merino/Silk DK yarn in the Soot colourway to knit it.David's cowl

For my friend’s Mom, who I’ve known since I was 14, I traded a skein of my Silk/Linen Select Lace yarn to my friend, Joanne for some of her handmade soaps and 1 hard lotion bar. I thought that she would enjoy using these special soaps in her new apartment.betty's gift
