The Gathering 2013 and other news

I attended The Gathering in Port Hope, Ontario on April 13, 2013 with Francine of Fancy That – Creations by Francine. We drove down the day before and stayed overnight at the lovely Summerhill B & B. It was a lovely surprise to find that we had been given the two tables right across from where people entered. We set up our tables quickly and before we knew it, people were starting to arrive. This event is very well run and set up so...

My Chandelier Shawl and A New Yarn

My Chandelier Shawl and A New Yarn

I bought one skein of a new yarn my supplier was offering in my last order to test it out. It is a single ply fingering weight yarn with a tight twist that is comprised of 100% superwash merino. It comes in 100 g skeins with approximately 365 m/400 yds. I dyed it up awhile ago in a combinations of different reds. It took the dye amazing well. I knit the Chandelier Shawl from the Shaping Shawls book by Anna Dalvi (This is a great book!) with...

The kit contained the Lavender Fields Shawl pattern by Natalie Servant, 1 skein of my BFL/Silk Select Lace in the Persian Violets colourway and 1 grey fresh-water pearl shawl pin made by Fancy That – Creations by Francine. She finished it and had it blocked in time for me to use as a sample at the Ottawa Knitting Guild’s vendors night on...

My Childeric’s Bees

My Childeric’s Bees

I started my Childeric’s Bees shawl while I was in Halifax and I managed to finish and block it in time to display it as a sample in my booth at the Twist Fibre Festival in August. I knit my Bees shawl using my Yvieknits Merino Light Fingering in the Cosmopolitan colourway. I used approximately 440 m out of the 685 m in the skein to knit the shawl as written (14 bees) but I am a slightly tight knitter. Natalie’s patterns are always...

My Clover Shawl

My Clover Shawl

I recently finished knitting a V-Shaped version of the Clover Shawl by Natalie Servant using one skein of my Merino/Silk Fingering yarn in the Hostas colourway. My Mom kindly modeled the shawl for me in the pictures. This shawl comes in three versions that you can knit: V-shaped, long rectangle (stole), and a large square. You start knitting in the middle of the 4 leaf clover motif in the round. You then knit Chart A and B still knitting in the...

2 shawls based on one pattern

2 shawls based on one pattern

I knit my Fairy Wings shawl as part of a test knit/KAL in my dyeing group out of one skein of my Merino/Silk Fingering yarn in the Irish Spring colourway. I followed the pattern fairly closely, but I did add an extra repeat of the lace pattern. I really liked the look and shape of this shawl so I decided to knit another version of it with a few changes to keep it interesting using Handmaiden Fine Yarns Camelspin in the Sangria colourway. I...

The Gathering in Port Hope, Ontario

The Gathering in Port Hope, Ontario

I was a vendor at The Gathering in Port Hope, Ontario this past Saturday (April 14th). What a fun and well organized event this was. There were so many volunteers to help to unload and bring your things inside that I think that I only carried one small box in. The picture to the left is my booth a little while before the event started. This event is meant to be an all day event for people to do some shopping and to sit, knit, spin etc and visit...
